Waiting by the Stump
Once, there was a farmer. Every day, from dawn to dusk, he worked in his fields.
One day, a rabbit ran too fast, crashed into a tree stump at the edge of a field, and died.
The farmer picked up the rabbit and went home happily.
That night, he ate a good meal.
Because he had found a rabbit once, he no longer wanted to farm.
From that day on, he sat beside the stump and waited every day.
But the rabbit never came again.
The field filled with weeds, and he got nothing at all.
Relying only on luck cannot bring lasting success.
If you do not practise and only wait to win, that is 守株待兔.
